Meet Terry Tucker and James Johnson. They've been friends ever since Kindergarten.
Now that they're in grade one they can read, they can print, they can tie their own shoes,
and they do it all together. In five days Terry will be seven years old. James has already
turned seven about a month ago. They have big plans for Terry's Birthday party. Huge
plans. They will build a tree house and invite all of their friends over.
Tonight they will draw out their plans on long sheets of paper. "We'll make sure it has the highest look-out tower!" exclaims Terry. "And we'll have a rope ladder", says James. "Oh isn't this exciting", they think to themselves. James stays for supper, but when they finish eating, they continue to think up new and better ideas.
On the first day they hammer the boards to the tree. Boom, bang, bang! They lift and they stretch. "I need more nails", demands Terry. "Can you help me with this board please?" asks James. "Do you need any help?" asks Terry's dad. "No, thank you", they both say at the same time.
This sample is my children's book I had been working on. It is a draft copy, almost a decade old, and I'm still searching for a better title and I've yet to finish the front cover of the book. I haven't I've only just come across it the other day, so I'll see what will become of it. One day I hope to illustrate my own book of children's poems as well.
